The "huddle".....

I love it when my pastor uses a football analogy to make a point.

Yesterday, Pastor Pete talked about the "huddle".  The huddle is where the football players gather in a circle to discuss their plan.  It's nice and safe in the huddle.  They are all friends, playing on the same team, wearing the same uniform, and wanting the same outcome from the game.  They might even be tempted to stay in the huddle because it's safe there.  No one's trying to knock them to the ground or steal their ball while they are in the huddle.  No one is judging their productivity or their abilities.  BUT.... they know that staying in the huddle will not get them anywhere either.  They HAVE to get in the game if they want to make a difference in the outcome.

We all have "huddles" in our lives.  Sometimes it's our churches.  We all get together in our church huddle and it feels nice and safe within those four walls.  We are there with others who share our religious beliefs.  We are there with family and friends who love us.   It feels nice and comfortable there within those four walls....but we are not called to just stay in the huddle.  We are called to get out there in the real world and make a difference outside of the huddle.... being a church is alot different than going to church.  Right?

This Saturday, you can make a difference for someone in need by signing up for "Serving Saturday" at Crosspoint.   You can join the other volunteers willing to get out of their huddle and get in the game by going here to sign up: Serving Saturday at Crosspoint.

Huddles are necessary....and good for us.  But getting in the game is WAY more fun.  :-)
