Ok....I'm making some changes. BIG changes. TODAY. And this is NOT an April Fool's joke.
I've never been a big exerciser. I mean I've gotten on exercise "kicks" where I make a little attempt at starting a regular exercise program, but it fades pretty quickly every time. I keep hearing all the benefits of regular exercise (lose weight, more energy, better overall health, etc...) and how "once you start exercising alot, you'll start to LOVE it because of the benefits of it." Well, I guess I've never stayed with a program long enough to get to that "loving feeling"... but I'm going to try and commit to ONE month of serious exercise.
SO......the month of April is going to be the month. The month that I really give daily exercise a chance.
Do you think that I will see a difference by May 1st? Will I lose weight? Will I have more energy? Will my skin clear up? Will my aches and pains go away? Will my hair stop coming in gray???? Ok, ok.... I know that last question is a "No", but one can hope, right?
I'm going to use this little blogspot of mine to keep myself accountable. My plan is to exercise every morning before I take Sam to school. However, I know that won't always be "do-able", so i'm going to have to exercise at night if I don't get to it in the morning. I will be posting my progress on here. Even if no one else but me and my mother-in-law (Hi Janet!) is reading it, at least I will be able to see my progress.
First step... get off this computer and turn on FitTV right NOW!! Wish me luck.....
Here is my workout instructor for the day.... did 30 minutes with him from 7:30 - 8:00am. That's pretty good for day one, right?
UPDATE: Had a good day for day ONE of my new fitness routine. I exercised with Gilad (see above), had fruit for breakfast, a salad w/chicken for lunch, and grilled pork chops for dinner. THEN, I cleaned up my eliptical machine that's been sitting in my garage for two years, and made Sam and Mike move it into the sunroom so I can use the darn thing!! I'm on my way.....
I know me, and mornings are NOT a reality for me...I usually work out at night. Of course I took over 2 weeks off because I was sick and now getting back to the habit...very difficult! I am trying! You can do this!!
ReplyDeleteDo you ever find that you have trouble getting to sleep at night when you work out late like that?? I've heard that it can cause sleep problems too work out at night....

Marcia, we joined the gym at the first of the year...we even got Wayne to join. If you ever want to give our gym a try, I have a free guest pass every time I go. Sometimes I go in the morning or sometimes we all go when Scott gets home in the evening. The evening is actually good because alot of the after-work crowd is gone. As far as sleep problems with working out that late, I think it makes me sleep better. Strange but true. If you ever want to go after you drop Sam off at school, let me know....or you can go at night too with us...for free. So there...no excuses!

ReplyDeleteHey Leslie!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the invite to the gym! I gave up my gym membership awhile back because I have an eliptical machine, free weights and FitTV at home. Plus it saves me time, not having to drive to the gym and back... however, I might take you up on it sometime, just to switch things up a bit! Glad you are enjoying your gym!
