Miles the Cat, taking a nap!!

My animals crack me up. This is my cat Miles. (Full name "Miles Davis Waldron") He loves to torture our yorkie, Django, by laying across this footstool that Django uses to climb up on the couch. Miles will get up there and "block" Django from getting up on the couch by me. Django's terrified of Miles, so Django just sits on the floor whining for someone to move Miles so he can get up on the couch. Anyway, this morning, Miles got up there to start his daily torture of our dog and fell asleep. I thought he looked funny in the position he was sleeping in, so I snapped these pictures. I guess it was more important to Miles that he ruin Django's day than find a comfy place to sleep...... :-) That reminds me of a question I heard that Pastor Pete got yesterday at church..

Q: "Do dogs go to heaven?"
A: Well, the REAL question would be, "Do cats go to hell?" LOL

I can't remember the last time....

.... I felt this bad. Started off as a swollen, sore throat and now I'm in the middle of a full blown respiratory infection. Boo!! Had to cancel my gig tomorrow night (thanks Kimmie, for filling in for me at the last minute!) and I was really looking forward to singing/playing with the Twelve Against Nature guys.... Oh well... sometimes your body just says "Stop!" and mine is definitely saying that right now. So, I'll be here on my couch all weekend.... I'm sure I'll be twittering. When you can't talk, you can still TWITTER!! LOL

Ya'll have a good weekend....

Thank Goodness for Light-Blocking Curtains......

June 24, 2009

Today is the 8th day in a row that the temps have been in the 90’s. For someone with Summer SAD, (Seasonal Affective Disorder) that is bad news. Usually I don’t start really feeling the affects until mid-July. I can normally breeze right through June without feeling the need to pull my light-blocking curtains, turn on all the ceiling fans, and crank the AC as much as I can. However, the last two afternoons, that is exactly what I have done. I start to feel the panic rising in my chest when my thoughts turn to how long I still have to go to get through the summer of ’09. September seems like SO far away to me right now. September is my month of sweet relief… when the temps usually return to something more tolerable for me. I guess it’s a good thing that next weekend, I will board the bus with Patty and the band for a good long 24 hr. bus ride to MAINE!! Hopefully the temps will be much cooler up there… and I KNOW that the boys will have the AC cranking on the bus while we are traveling there and back. It’s a bit like a meat locker in there most of the time… LOL

We are playing two shows up in Maine:

July 3rd – Come see us at the Stone Mtn. Arts Center
In BROWNFIELD, MAINE

July 4th – Come to the L.L. Bean Summer Concert Series
In FREEPORT, MAINE

And if you come out, please come say hello!! By the way, I’ll be doing an opening set of my own in Freeport, ME so I’m excited about that!! Yippee!!

Ya’ll behave… stay safe… and stay COOL!!

Life is a continuing education.....

... and I think i learned today why God made the earth flat. It would be too easy to "gently shove" someone off the edge when they are getting on your nerves. Grrrrrr!!!

Michigan....

We spent a few days up in northern Michigan, where my in-laws have a beautiful cabin retreat. It was great to have a few days to relax, although I felt pretty miserable the whole time, due to a medication that was NOT working for me. The boys had fun fishing and we got to see Lake Michigan, which is pretty amazing!! We had to rush home, because while we were there, Mike got word that Lee Ann had decided to fill in for Julianne Hough, opening for George Strait at the new Texas Stadium in Dallas, TX. So..... we had to pack up and drive ALL NIGHT home for him to catch a plane today. I've been a zombie.... still not feeling great, but hopefully a good night's sleep will help me head back to normal-land.

Anyway, thanks Ron and Jan for letting us come up to the cabin for a few days.... you guys have a gorgeous place up there.... just wish it was a little closer!! :-) Can you build one in TN too???

I sure hope he's comfortable enough!
