What a day!! We finally got some rain... but unfortunately it was the day that the pumpkins were being delivered for the Dalewood United Methodist Church annual pumpkin patch!! Sam, Django and I headed over to help unload the pumpkins, but unfortunately just as we were leaving, our power went out at our house. It took me awhile to figure out how to open my garage door without power!! (where is my husband when I need him?!?!? I'm just a dumb 'ol girl! He's on the road, of course!) So we were a bit late... really late, actually.
We got there just in time to hear Vicki say, "Well, we got them all off the truck!'.. darn. My friend Vicki Martindale is one of those people that was born with a true "servant's heart" and she heads up the pumpkin patch every year! That is her and her husband, Greg in the top picture. If you live in the Inglewood area of Nashville and need a pumpkin, please go buy from their patch! Not only do they have some beautiful pumpkins, but the proceeds go to help the youth group at their church, which is a great cause. If you go to a store to buy, you'll pay more, won't have as nice of a pumpkin AND the money just goes back to the "big man".... I bought three while I was there!!
Then, Sam and I came home and realized that we still didn't have power. So, since I didn't want to sit in the dark and I also was dying to watch the debate, we went over to my neighbor's house. Miss Mary is like my other mom. (like I need one more mom! -ha I have four already!! LOL) And she just happens to be Vicki's real mom.... When we moved down on our little dead-end street Mary "adopted" us.. thank goodness!! She's wonderful.... so Sam and I went down there, had some dinner. Then Kari came home, to a pitch-black house, called me and said "Where are you?"... so she came down to Mary's as well. We played "yahtzee" and watched the debate. FINALLY we saw the lights come on in our house @9pm and came home. Of course, there's supposed to be storms tonight and tomorrow, so we might lose our power again...... unfortunately, for some unknown reason, we lose our power on our street if someone even blows their nose across town. But we love our little house and our wonderful neighbors, so if the worse thing is that we have to hang out at Mary's house for the night, well, that's really kind of nice. :-)
On another note, Direct TV is supposed to be coming tomorrow "between 8am - 12pm" for installation. I'm SOOOO ready to say good-bye to Comcast!! I just hope we don't lose power while they are here!!
It's the great pumpkin Charlie Brown! Fall is truly in the air, huh? And you guys do have terrible luck when it comes to power. I'm one of those people who never calls when my power goes out - I just assume someone else (actually probably lots of "someones") have already called. One day I sat for hours, finally decided to call, and it was a transformer on the pole just outside my house. Turns out the ONLY one without power was ME!! Since that day, I always call to report it.
ReplyDeleteAnd are you kidding? I trust you completely - it's others I'm not certain of...but, just for you, I removed the approval option. So, no more will you have to worry where your little blog's gone!!
